I Know What You Haven’t Done this Summer

I Know What You Haven’t Done this Summer

Hi everyone! I’m Alyssa and I will be joining your team of trusty bloggers here at Lapine, representing the Merchandise group. We’re getting into the month of August which means that summer is winding down and we will soon be on the cusp of fall. Before I start preparing for hibernation, let’s take a quick run through some of the exciting summer activities you may not have experienced yet that can easily squeeze into these last few weeks of pure Vitamin D weather. Hitting up the local farmers’ market is always something that I intend to do and never seem to get around to. I have no excuse now as I live, almost literally, 500 feet away from a growing outdoor sensation. Local fruits and veggies are just the beginning of this delicious endeavor. If you haven’t been to a farmers’ market before, let me tell you – it is so much more than just two food groups. Every Saturday in Stamford you can find local merchants selling everything from baked goods to meats, dairy products, and even coffee and tea. Grab a sturdy canvas tote bag to throw a few mason jars and a blanket in and you’ll have yourself quite the spread for a picnic in the park. Outdoor concerts are hot in August, in more ways than one. Whether you’re going to see John Mayer or Wiz Khalifa this month, the important thing to remember is to stay hydrated! Camelbak has a brand new Eddy™ bottle this year that is both stylish and concert-ready (in case you dive head first into the mosh pit, though we... Read more
Summer Fun in the Sun

Summer Fun in the Sun

It’s hard to believe that we’re already halfway through the summer months. It feels like just yesterday we were digging ourselves out from Storm Nemo’s epic amounts of snow, and now we’re complaining about heat waves. While this hundred degree weather has been a bit much to handle, I for one love the summer and wish it would slow itself down. As we approach the dog days of summer, we thought it would be fun to give everyone an update of how everyone here at Lapine has been spending their summer. We welcomed the first signs of warm weather with a bowling tournament hosted by PepsiCo that benefited the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. If you read last year’s blog from our channel partners bowling event, you’ll remember that bowling is something taken very seriously at Lapine and this year was no exception. Stacey came up strong for Team Lapine and took home the Strike Queen award. Before the heat wave rolled through we enjoyed many lunch hours outside in the sun. Whether it was testing out some of our Kelty camping chairs during a sunshine lunch, or playing our favorite new tailgate game, Kan Jam, the Lapine parking lot was full of action and we all appreciated getting outside and enjoying the fresh air and sun for a bit. The Lapine crew can be spotted all around Stamford this summer too. Our softball team has been having a great season so far, with an excellent record as we approach the playoffs. The Lapine gang has also been taking over Stamford downtown each week for Alive at 5 on... Read more
The Lapine Experience

The Lapine Experience

Intern Insights: Although I only interned at Lapine two days a week, those two days were what I honestly looked forward to the most during the week. No matter how awful traffic was or how early I had to wake up, finally pulling into the Lapine parking lot at 9:30, or sometimes a little later because of the typical traffic on 95, made it worth it. Every day from the first day here, everyone was always so nice and welcoming. I remember my first few weeks as I would come in various people would say good morning to me, before I even had fully learned all their names. Besides the great people who work here, this overall intern experience will be one that I remember forever. Here I was not just an intern, I felt like more than that. During my time at Lapine I learned more than I could even have imagined. For what college couldn’t teach me, I’m grateful to have learned it from Lapine.  The tasks that I was given, I really enjoyed. I can honestly say I was happy to be put to work here. I loved having the opportunity to assist with both the Marketing and Merchandising teams. During my time here I was able to assist on many projects, write bi-weekly trend reports, research trendy items, and help to find promotional products for the Merchandising team. I am confident that the experience I have gained here will benefit me in the future. What I will remember most from my experience here is the overall work environment. Lapine to me was really the epitome... Read more
Helping the Earth One Product at a Time

Helping the Earth One Product at a Time

Earth Day is a yearly reminder to stop and think about what each and every one of us can do to help the planet. Whether it is planting a tree, volunteering to clean litter or making a conscious effort to preserve water, everyone can do something to improve our environment. Earth Day’s official website suggests plenty of campaigns and activities to join in on like, recycling e-waste and going solar. Lapine is just as eager to help our planet too. Here are some great alternative items that are not only enjoyable to use, but help out the environment! Every day I turn on my stereo and listen to music. Even though it is enjoyable, I tend to waste electricity either listening or leaving it plugged in when not in use. Etón has a variety of stereo items that are run purely by solar power which help to prevent electricity waste. The Etón Rugged Rukus is a great solar speaker to take with you while enjoying the outdoors.  It is also lightweight enough to attach on a carabineer and take on a hike. This product not only helps to save energy, but can help power your outdoor hike or activity by playing some motivating jams. The Etón Rukus Solar is one of my favorite pieces to bring to outdoor parties. It is lightweight and has amazing sound. Also, anyone with Bluetooth capabilities can use it which is a great way to make everyone happy with the tune selection. These are definitely my go-to products when I want to have fun while going green! One of my favorite green promotions is... Read more
Holidays with the Boys & Girls Club

Holidays with the Boys & Girls Club

Being an active part of our community has always been important to Lapine. Whether it’s through participation in neighborhood events, donating to local charities or playing on city intramural teams, Lapine takes pride in its community. This is why one of our favorite events of the year is our annual Holiday Gift Drive at the Stamford Boys & Girls Club. This will be the third year that the Lapine team will get together to wrap and distribute gifts to the kids at the Boys & Girls Club. This event is really special for us because not only current employees participate, but past employees, out-of-towners and family members come to help support our gifting efforts too. The morning of the event, we gather our troops and take a few hours away from work to wrap over 300 gifts. The wrapping is not only a great way for us to get in the holiday spirit, but it’s also a nice chance for the Lapine team to interact with each other in a way we don’t normally get to and spend time with people you might not work with on a regular basis. When all the gifts are wrapped, we head around the corner to the Boys & Girls Club and organize all the gifts by age and gender. As the kids arrive, they line up to eagerly await their gift. We try to hand out gifts in an organized manner, but the energy and excitement usually gets the best of us and soon gifts and wrapping paper are flying. The smiles and shouts of excitement from all the kids are more... Read more
Last Minute Holiday Gift Ideas

Last Minute Holiday Gift Ideas

As if the end of the year isn’t already one of the busiest times of years between working and prepping for the holidays, many are taking on the role of party planner. As mid-December approaches, holiday parties are in full swing. But what if you forgot to get a favor for your soiree?  Here are some last-minute items that are sure to be a hit for parties small and large. Nothing portrays the holidays more than a delicious batch of cookies. Cookies are a great gift that everyone will enjoy. You can make them personal and bake them yourself with fun DIY packaging or you can order custom tins with freshly made cookies. There are many companies out there that make fresh cookie tins and ship them out immediately, saving you the hassle of cleaning up. It is a great gift your guests can bring home and share with the entire family. If you are having an adult only event, custom labeled wine bottles are a great gift. Any type of wine or champagne can be customized to have a special etch or label of your event or company’s name. This is something that guests can not only enjoy, but can then use as a decorative piece to commemorate the event. Another great way to make sure everyone goes home with a great gift is a grab bag. Choose a theme or price limit and have everyone bring a gift to throw in the bag. Everyone gets to go home with a unique gift and also gets to partake in the season of giving. There are great novelty gifts... Read more
