It’s Turkey Time!

It’s Turkey Time!

Happy Holidays everyone! I must have done something right my first trip around the blog because I was graciously invited back to contribute.  Well, I am ecstatic that I am back because this is quite possibly my favorite time of the year with Thanksgiving just around the corner and Christmas time on the horizon.

Copious amounts of food, football from sunrise to sundown and most importantly quality time with my family highlights this day to give thanks.  This time of year gives us a chance to step back, remove ourselves from our careers for just a moment and realize how we all got here in the first place; from the support of our loved ones.

Making the Most of Autumn

Making the Most of Autumn

Being from small-town New England I can verify the authenticity of one time-honored TV stereotype – leaf peepers. They exist and they come out in full force this time of year. To be fair, though, if I lived in a city with concrete at all turns, I too might be enticed to pack a bag and go for a casual drive up the Merritt Parkway – something that any native Connecticuter would avoid at all costs.

DIY – Or Make it Look like You Did

DIY – Or Make it Look like You Did

If you ask my friends, they might describe me as “the crafty one.” As evidenced by the sewing machine, construction paper and ribbon in my room, I definitely like to dabble in the popular world of DIY. I once made my friend a papier-mâché piece of the Agro Crag from the old Nickelodeon show Guts (the 90s are trendy too, in case you haven’t noticed) for his birthday.

Back to School Spirit

Back to School Spirit

The middle of September means the majority of college students have started classes, attended their first couple football games and, for the “of-age” students, discovered their favorite watering holes. When I attended Michigan State University from 2007-2011, one of my favorite parts of the whole college experience was heading back to school every year and outfitting my dorm room or apartment exactly how I wanted it and not following my parents every word about how my room should look. Now that I am a few years removed from school and officially “merchandise savvy”, here are some recommendations for products that I wish I had during my time in East Lansing.

Highlights from the 2014 Summer OR Show

Highlights from the 2014 Summer OR Show

If there is one trade show I look forward to attending it is Outdoor Retailer. This show includes some of the most well-known outdoor brands at retail and I love the opportunity to see new product before the general public! After my fantastic experience at the winter show, I knew I had even more to look forward to at the Summer Outdoor Retailer show. Summer Outdoor Retailer took over downtown Salt Lake City from August 6th-9th and I had the pleasure of being a part of the action.

Surprise in a Box

Surprise in a Box

I very rarely check the mailbox at my apartment because most of my mail is still delivered to my parents’ house. (I know, grow up.) However, on the rare occasion that I am the one on mail duty, it usually seems to be the day that my roommate receives her monthly mailing from Birchbox. The seemingly nondescript box is always filled with intriguing health and beauty products to try out and leaves me wondering why I still haven’t signed up for the service.

Summer Fun at Lapine

Summer Fun at Lapine

Although the first day of the season is technically not for a few more weeks, in my mind Memorial Day weekend is the true kick-off of the summer. With this weekend behind us, patio furniture is coming out of storage, white pants are being taken off the high shelves of closets and I am reacquainting myself with my long lost friends, Sun and Beach.

We’ve kicked off our summer here at Lapine, too. The past few weeks have been filled with warm weather activities and good times outside of the office.
