American Pride

Interest in American-made products will likely grow in the back half of 2020 and beyond, as both consumers and manufacturers feel invested in helping rebuild the American economy.

Marketplace and Consumer Trends

Locally made, quality products matter

  • In a 2019 national survey on manufacturing, 55% of respondents said that U.S.-made products are of superior quality compared to products made in Asia or Central America.
  • In April 2020, 64% of U.S. manufacturers reported that they are likely to bring manufacturing production and sourcing back to North America, up 10% from a March 2020 report.
  • Nearly 72% of consumers say it’s important to support local businesses during the pandemic, according to a 2020 survey by Cotton Incorporated. 61% say they want to spend money in order to help reboot the economy.
  • Consumers will be more mindful when shopping and spending during an unsure economy, which means “perceived value” in quality merchandise made locally will play an important role in driving purchases.
