Summer Fun at Lapine

Although the first day of the season is technically not for a few more weeks, in my mind Memorial Day weekend is the true kick-off of theBeach summer. With this weekend behind us, patio furniture is coming out of storage, white pants are being taken off the high shelves of closets and I am reacquainting myself with my long lost friends, Sun and Beach.

We’ve kicked off our summer here at Lapine, too. The past few weeks have been filled with warm weather activities and good times outside of the office.

Meet the Mets
A group of Lapiners recently attended a New York Mets game with some of the Mountain Dew team from PepsiCo. The special night was planned to celebrate the launch of Mountain Dew’s newest flavor of the summer, Baja Blast. Long-time favorite of Taco Bell diners, thisMets lime-twist on the staple soda is finally available to purchase at your local convenience store – but only for a limited time, so get yours while you can!

While the game itself lasted long into the night – it almost broke the record for longest 9 inning game – our group had a blast the whole evening. We enjoyed the game from our box, caught up with one another and even got a photo with Mr. Met! Though the Mets ended up losing, it was definitely a winning night for us.

Community Run
Ever thought about running a 5K in a thunderstorm? That’s what we were expecting a few weeks ago when the rain was pouring down just minutes before the start of the Stamford Boys & Girls Club 5K. While the storm didn’t stop Lapine runners from donning our Lapine jerseys 5Kand lacing up our shoes, luckily the clouds cleared and the sun came out just as we were told to gather at the starting line.

The race, one Lapine had participated in two years ago, was a benefit for the Stamford Boys and Girls Club and had over 2000 participants, despite the terrible weather leading up to it. The 3.1 mile course took us through Stamford’s Harbor Point neighborhood and ended right on the boardwalk with a great view of the boats, water and sunset. After the race the Lapine gang celebrated breaking a few personal records at Southport Brewing Company with drinks and the musical styling of the local karaoke talent.

This is just the start to what is sure to be a great summer packed with fun activities and good times. Enjoy the sunshine!
